Buildings Associated With Freemasons – Victoria
855 Pemberton Road was built in by Alfred Cornelius Flumerfelt (1956-1930) as a family home. The design as been attributed to architect William D’Orly Rochfort but this cannot be stated with certainly.
Alfred Cornelius Flumerfelt was a member of Victoria-Columbia Lodge No. 1 in Victoria.
Alfred Flumerfelt also built another house at 835 Pemberton Road but this house has since been demolished.
In 1926 Alfred Flumerfelt married his neighbour Lola Grierson and moved into her house at 906 Pemberton Road. He was living at 906 Pemberton Road at the time of his death in 1930.
Alfred Cornelius Flumerfelt was also associated with the construction of the Board of Trade Building, 31 Bastion Square, in 1892. Alfred Flumerfelt was President of the Victoria Board of Trade from 1893-1903.
The Board of Trade Building was designed by architect Alexander Maxwell Muir, who was also a Freemason.
