He was recommended for membership in Temple Lodge by Brother Kenneth F. Duncan and Brother John H. Peterson and the following Investigating Committee appointed: Right Worshipful Brother Andrew H. Peterson, Worshipful Brother James M. Campbell, Brother Thomas Gibbins.

Brother Tom Brown, for information about Francis Thomas Troughton’s membership in Vacaville Lodge, No. 134 and were advised that Brother Troughton was a member of Vacaville Lodge, No. 134 from 1908 to 1913 and demitted as a Master Mason. We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Vacaville Lodge, No. 134 and the Grand Lodge of California in researching Brother Francis Thomas Troughton.

“….A Petition for membership by affiliation was received from Bro. Francis Thomas Troughton – who states that he was born at Gravesend – England – his age is 48 years – Profession – Druggist. At present resides at Duncan – was made at Atlints B.C. The Petition was accompanied by a demit from Vacaville Lodge, No. 134, Cal. F & A.M. and the usual fee of $5.00.
The applicant is recommended by Brother Senior Warden K.F. Duncan and Brother Junior Warden J.H. Peterson.
It was moved by Brother Junior Warden J.H. Peterson and seconded by Brother Senior Deacon R.C. Fawcett that the Petition be received and the usual Investigating Committee appointed. The Motion was carried.
The Worshipful Master appointed on this Committee Right Worshipful Brother A.H. Peterson, Worshipful Brother J.M. Campbell, Brother T. Gibbins…..”

Francis Thomas Troughton was a druggist (pharmacist) and rented retail space in the Duncan Masonic Temple for his business, the Island Drug Company. Our present commercial tenant Expedia Cruise Ship Center now occupies the space occupied by Francis Troughton’s pharmacy during the period circa 1914-19.
“…[Correspondence from] Bro. F.J. Troughton requesting that the rent for the premises occupied by him in the Masonic temple be continued at $40.00 per month. This communication had the following recommendation attached to it, viz:
’We the undersigned Trustees of Temple Lodge, No. 33, A.F. & A.M., hereby recommend that rent from the Island Drug Co. (F.J. Troughton) be continued and remain in force at the rate of $40.00 per month, payable monthly, for a period of six months from the 1st day of March 1916.’ (signed) Kenneth F. Duncan,Trustee, and A. Peterson, Trustee.
Moved by the Bro. Secretary and seconded by Bro. Senior Warden that the letter from Bro. Troughton be received and filed and the recommendations of the Trustees in the matter of the rent be adopted by the Lodge. Motion carried….”
