Buildings Associated With Temple Lodge No. 33 Members
187 Kenneth Street, Duncan, B.C.
The building at 187 Kenneth Street was originally built as a bowling alley.
It was subsequently taken over by the federal government, which removed the bowling alley fixtures and sold them to a company in North Vancouver. The government used this building as canteen for soldiers during World War II.
The building was subsequently sold to the Glad Tidings Tabernacle. In 1946, it was purchased from Glad Tidings Tabernacle by Walter Maxwell Hudson (a member of Temple Lodge, No. 33) who refitted it as a bowling alley.
By 1948, the bowling alley was operating under the name Duncan Bowling Center.
The street facade of this building has been altered from its original appearance. Fig. 2 shows the east side of 187 Kenneth Street, which is still indicative of the building's original appearance.
