“…..A Petition for Initiation was received from Mr. Frank Gavin Hume, Duncan, B.C., bank clerk, born at Victoria, B.C. Dec. 1st 1909, recommended by Bro. C.W. Dawson and Bro. G.R.M. Marshall. W. Bro. McEwan moved and R.W. Bro. Hoskins seconded that the petition be received and an investigating committee appointed. Carried. On this committee were appointed W. Bro. C.W. O’Neill, Bro. E. Waldie and W. Bro. C. A. Green……"
[Note: A Petition for Initiation was also received at the same meeting from Mr. Harvey Dean Painter.]

“…..The report of the Investigating Committee on [the] petition of Mr. Frank Gavin Hume being favourable, W. Bro. Dwyer moved and Bro. Waldie seconded that the report be received the committee discharged and the candidate balloted for. Carried.
The ballot being spread was found fair, clear, bright and unspotted and the Wor. Master therefore declared Mr. Frank Gavin Hume duly elected to become a member of Temple Lodge by Degrees.
The report of the Investigating Committee of Mr. Harvey Dean Painter being favourable, Bro. K.H. Castley moved and Bro. A.A. Atkinson seconded that the report be received the committee discharged and the candidate balloted for. Carried.
The ballot being spread was found fair, clear, bright and unspotted and the Wor. Master declared Mr. Harvey Dean Painter duly elected to become a member of Temple Lodge by Degrees….”

“….W. Bro. Driver introduced W. Bro. Ardley of Hiram Lodge, No.14, A.F. & A.M., B.C.R., on his first visit to Temple Lodge……
The M. Masons lodge was called to refreshment and a lodge of Entered Apprentices opened and David James Madill, Frank Gavin Hume and Harvey Dean Painter were admitted, obligated and brought to Light and taught their first step in Masonry. The work being exemplified in a dignified and impressive manner.
The W. Master then thanked the Brethren for attending this Emergent meeting which was held under very unfavourable weather conditions. At 9:30 the E.A. lodge was closed………..”
