Sir Charles R.F. Piers (died 1996, aged 93) was Worshipful Master of Temple Lodge, No. 33 in 1957.
Here is a brief biographical sketch of Wor. Brother Sir Charles Piers taken from Temple Lodge, No.33 records and from his obituary and the coverage of his funeral in the Cowichan Leader newspaper:
“PIERS – Sir Charles R.F. (Bart), died after a brief illness in Cowichan District Hospital on Jan. 1, 1996. Born in Derby, England, August 30, 1903. Aged 92 years. Predeceased by his wife Anne in December 1975 and his daughter Sarah Weld in January 1988.
Robin is survived by his son James D. (Sarah) of North Vancouver; grandchildren Christine and Stephen Piers of North Vancouver, Diana and Andrea Weld of Maple Bay.
He was a long term resident of the Cowichan Valley, He was Past Commodore of the Maple Bay Yacht Club, a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve, served in the Second World War, Past Master of Temple Lodge, No.33, A.F. & A.M. B.C.R. (Duncan) and a past member of the Rotary Club.
A funeral service will be held in St. Peter's Anglican Church, 5800 Church Road, Duncan, B.C. on Friday January 5 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial remembrances may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Sands of Duncan."
