971 Government Street, at the intersection of Government Street and Cairnsmore Avenue in Duncan, B.C. was once the home of Temple Lodge, No. 33 member John Albert Kyle and his family.
Bro. John Albert Kyle (died 1951) operated Kyle Taxi at 165 Station Street in downtown Duncan from the 1920s until his retirement in 1948, when his two sons took over the business.
At the time Bro. Kyle lived here, Government Street was known as Island Highway North, so his home address is listed in records from the period as 971 Island Highway North. At that time, Government Street (or Island Highway North) was part of the primary north-south road transportation link on Vancouver Island. That changed when the current Trans Canada Highway was built through Duncan in the 1950s.
Bro. John Albert Kyle ran his business, Kyle Taxi from 165 Station Street in downtown Duncan. He passed the business on to his sons when he retired in 1948.
