DUNCAN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS
There are a number of residential dwellings, schools and other buildings associated with Temple Lodge, No.33 members in Duncan's residential districts.
Here are some that were are aware of:
Christopher Dobson house, 220 Beech
This house was built by W. Bro. Christopher Dobson, circa 1900, as his home.
Christopher Dobson also built the commercial building at 101 Craig Street in downtown Duncan.
The Claude Green house at 733 Wharncliffe is nearby.
Duncan Elementary School, Nagle Street
Built in 1913 by architect C. Elwood Watkins (a Freemason); the School Board chairman at the time Duncan Elementary was planned and built was William Mourdant Dwyer, a member of Temple Lodge, No.33; the builder contractor in charge of construction of Duncan Elementary School was John George Somerville, a member of Temple Lodge, No. 33.
John Albert Kyle house, 971 Government Street
Bro. John Albert Kyle (died 1951) lived at 971 Government Street, then known as Island Highway North. Bro. Kyle operated Kyle's Taxi at 165 Station Street in downtown Duncan.
Charles William O'Neill house, 1087 Islay Street, Duncan
W. Bro. Charles William O'Neill of Temple Lodge, No.33 built this Arts & Crafts style home as his personal residence circa 1920. He lived here until the 1960s.
Claude Green house - 733 Wharncliffe Road
This house was designed for M.W.B. Claude Green and his wife Edan by local architect Douglas James circa 1928.
The exterior has been somewhat altered from Douglas James' original design, including having stucco applied to all the exterior wall and the chimneys.
The Christopher Dobson house at 220 Beech is nearby.
